So tonight in my weakened state I decided to eat something comforting with the slice of Chicken Maryland I had in the refrigerator.

  • I used a slice of Craven Maryland
  • I used a slice of Swiss cheese because I ran out of Coon cheese
  • Two slices of spam
  • a few rings of red onion

  • Coleslaw and avocado with garlic aioli

  3. Add together some diced avocado which has been mixed with a little olive oil and spring onions
  4. Shoot the photograph (I like using a ninety mm Tamron Macro lens at f/22)
  5. Eat the meal
  6. Wash the dishes
  7. Write the recipe

How does it taste?

Well, the chicken was perfect. The skin was crispy, the cooked muscle was moist and tender and tasty.

The noodles not covered by the chicken was a petty overcooked but information technology was crispy and had a good crunch.

A fine Dominicus

I awoke this morning time from a crapulent sleep. I wish I could sleep amend. My allergies are getting worse. If it wasn't for the continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) machine next to my bed, I reckon I wouldn't be able to function.

The pelicans are back on Lake Ginninderra

Later breakfast I went for a walk effectually Lake Ginninderra and noticed a couple of pelicans near the boat ramp on the Western Foreshore.

Yesterday while grocery shopping I came across a nice looking piece of beef rump. I put together a plan in my mind to have a slowly roasted slice of beefiness rump with leftover beef for toasted sandwiches at work this calendar week.

Another week

The Pialligo Estate Bacon'southward Smokehouse burns down

It was a tragedy of epic proportions for residents of Canberra who love bacon.   1. The arty farty photographers say y'all make a picture, the more than basic will say shoot a photo. Basically I shoot a photo at this phase and then after I've eaten I make a picture in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. So that must hateful I'm basically arty farty!
  2. Eat the meal while standing up at the kitchen counter considering my dinner/piece of work table is covered in computer stuff and I can't use my couch because the then called leather is falling apart.

  6. Vlog (verb) because at present this is fun and I'm enjoying the learning curve of video editing software. I'yard using Final Cut Pro X.

Pan frying or baking salmon?

I like both only by and large I bake considering I don't like the mess associated with pan frying salmon in an open frying pan.

There'southward a uncomplicated solution which gives the best of both worlds of pan frying and baking.

In a hot pan I lay a canvass of baking paper and spray it with some cooking oil. I add together the salmon on the paper skin down, add some dill, croaky pepper, chives and chilli. I put the lid on, reject the heat and and so set a timer for 5 minutes.

At the v infinitesimal marker take the frying pan off the heat and go out the chapeau on for about a minute while organising everything else.

The salmon has crispy skin and a moist flaky flesh.

Green split up pea and ham soup needs to be green

Introduction

Last Sunday I fabricated the virtually fart worthy pea and ham soup. It lived up to expectations in terms of flatus, however, it had an atrocious faeculent colour and wasn't what I was hoping for in terms of a pea and ham soup. I was hoping for a nice deep light-green colour. And then this week I'thou having another get at making green divide pea and ham soup.

What did I put in information technology this time?

Split green peas, Stock, Potato, Onion, Jalapeño, Celery

Okay last week I used carrot, this week I'm using irish potato.

  • Ham hock—I bought a big one this time from the delicatessen at Coles.
  • Speck—No pulled pork this week. I had a lump of fatty speck that was approaching its best use by date. I hoping the fat will dissolve nicely in the soup.
  • Potato—I diced 2 spuds
  • Onion—I diced a slightly smaller onion than the one I used final calendar week. Last week, the whole apartment took on a slightly onion smell and I effigy the more than onion meant more than farting too.
  • Celery—I used three sticks. I want this soup to be green.
  • Jalapeño—I used two for some extra kick and for the greenish!
  • Stock—This time I used Coles make salt reduced chicken stock. Final week the soup was well seasoned but it didn't need to exist that salty. This stock was besides considerably cheaper.
  • Split peas—I used a 500 gram packet. But I forgot to wash them first.

What to do with all the stuff

  1. In the deadening cooker vessel, I added the diced vegetables and the unwashed split peas.
  2. Give it all a good stir effectually.
  3. Add the 2 litres of stock and stirred.
  4. Put in the speck and the ham hock.
  5. Cook for 6 hours.
  6. Later on six hours I removed the ham hock and speck. I pulled the peel off both and discarded information technology. I so pulled the muscle bundles autonomously into chunk sized portions. Discard the bones.
  7. With a stick blender smooth the remaining soup.
  8. Add some of the ham to the lesser of a basin and ladle in some soup to the desired volume.
  9. Top with spring onions, chives and cerise chilli.
  10. Aliquot the remaining soup into containers for freezing.
  11. Shoot a photograph and make a nice picture.
  12. Drink the soup and enjoy the salty goodness.
  13. Prepare to fart for some other 24 hours and promise the meetings I attend have ventilation.

I prefer the dark-green look rather than the mustard yellowish of last week'due south soup.
